What happens when a podcast conversation ends—but the questions don’t?
Beyond the Statistics explores domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, legal abuse, healing, survivor advocacy, and the systems that impact survivors. Week after week, those conversations lead to more questions, more ideas, and topics that deserve more than a single episode.
So I created a place to keep them going.
In this special bonus episode, I’m introducing the Beyond the Statistics Community, a new membership community on Patreon for survivors, supporters, advocates, professionals, and listeners who want to go deeper into the conversations we begin on the podcast.
I’ll walk you through the three membership levels—The Circle, The Conversation, and The Table—and some of what we’re building together, including:
• Beyond the Episode — live Q&As and conversations with previous podcast guests
• Beyond the Book — live discussions with authors
• Roundtables — conversations bringing multiple experts and perspectives together
• The Stacks — a library of recorded Community events
• The Community Room — a private monthly gathering centered on conversation, connection, privacy, and safety
The Community isn’t only for survivors. It’s also for the people who support them, professionals working in these fields, advocates working to change systems, and listeners who simply want to understand these issues better.
Beyond the Statistics isn’t changing. New podcast episodes will still be here every Wednesday.
We’re just making the table a little bigger.

The statistic is only the beginning. Behind every number is a story worth telling. Every story has a voice worth hearing. And every voice has the power to remind someone else: You are not alone. 💜
This podcast is intended for mature audiences. Some listeners may find the content distressing as episodes may include discussions of violence, human trafficking, and other forms of abuse, including emotional, psychological, sexual, financial, and physical. In many cases, names have been changed to protect those involved. Please note that the statements and opinions expressed by guests do not necessarily reflect my own.
If you are in the United States and need immediate support, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 800-799-SAFE (7233) or texting START to 88788. If you're outside the United States, crisis resources are available at BeyondTheStatisticsPodcast.com/GetHelp.

A Quick Personal Update
SPEAKER_00Hi Warriors, you may notice I sound a little different today. I'm fighting off a cold, but I've been wanting to share something with you, and apparently I wasn't willing to wait for my voice to catch up. I've been working on something behind the scenes for a while, and I can finally tell you about it.
Why A Community Needed To Exist
SPEAKER_00I created the Beyond the Statistics community, and the reason behind it is actually pretty simple. Every week I sit down with someone and we have these incredible conversations. We talk about domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, legal abuse, healing, systems at work, systems that absolutely do not work, and the people who are trying to change them. And then I say goodbye, the episode ends, and that's it. Except it isn't. Because I know from your messages and comments that you still have questions. I still have questions. Sometimes I finish an interview and think, we could have talked for another two hours. There are conversations I want to revisit, guests I want to bring back, books I want to talk about, experts I want to put together and say, okay, let's actually talk about this. And I wanted somewhere we could do that.
Membership Levels And What You Get
SPEAKER_00So I built it. The Beyond the Statistics community is a place for us to continue the conversations we start here on the podcast and to start some entirely new ones. And I want to be really clear about something. This isn't just a space for survivors. If you're a survivor, you're welcome here. If you're a family member, a friend, or someone supporting a survivor, you're welcome here. If you're an advocate, a professional working in this field, or someone trying to make these systems better, you're welcome here. And if you simply listen to the show because you care, you want to understand, or you believe these conversations matter, you're welcome here too. There are three membership levels: the circle, the conversation, and the table. Depending on your membership, you'll have access to community discussions and polls, behind the scenes updates, and several live events. There's Beyond the Episode where we'll bring previous guests back for live conversations and QAs. There's Beyond the Book where we'll talk with authors about their work. And there are roundtables where we'll be bringing experts together to dig into an issue from different perspectives. Those recorded conversations will also become part of the Stacks, our library of community events, so members can go back and watch conversations they missed or discover ones that happened before they joined. There will be first looks at what I'm working on and opportunities for members to have a say in what we do next. And probably a few things I haven't even thought of yet. Because I don't want this community to be something I build for you and then hand over to you. I want it to be something we build together.
The Community Room And Privacy
SPEAKER_00And then there's the community room. That one is especially important to me. It's a monthly live gathering where we can actually see each other, talk, ask questions, and connect. The community room is never recorded, and what happens there stays there. Everyone who participates agrees to our community guidelines and completes a brief screening beforehand because I want the people who join that room to know I've taken their privacy and security seriously.
From Stories To Systems Change
SPEAKER_00When I started one in three in 2023, the goal was to give people a place to tell their stories. That hasn't changed. But as one in three became beyond the statistics, I started thinking more and more about what happens after we tell those stories. Because telling the stories matters. What we do with them matters too. What do we learn? What questions do we ask next? Where are the gaps? Who else needs to be part of the conversation? And how do we take what we're learning and use it to make things better? That's where I want to go next. And I want you to come
How To Join And Stay Connected
SPEAKER_00with me. The podcast isn't changing. I'll still be right here every Wednesday bringing you the stories and conversations you've come here for. We're just making the table a little bigger. And if you'd like a seat at it, I would love to have you. You can find the Beyond the Statistics community on Patreon. I've put the direct link in the episode description so you can take a look around, see everything that's included in each membership level, and decide whether the community is right for you. And whether you decide to join the community or simply continue listening every Wednesday, thank you. Truly. Because none of this exists without people willing to listen, ask questions, and keep these conversations going. The statistic is only the beginning, because behind every number is a story worth telling. Every story has a voice worth hearing, and every voice has the power to remind someone else, you are not alone. I'll see you on Wednesday.
